Home Health Care
Program
In Top 8% Nationally
The Madelia Community Hospital Home Health Care Program has been
identified as one of the best practices in the nation at reducing
hospitalization. In a study, which analyzed the OBQI/Home Health
Compare hospitalization rates of over 7,500 Medicare certified
agencies in the United States, the MCH Home Health Care Program was
found to be in the top 8% of all agencies in the country. As of
March 3, 2005, Madelia Community Hospital Home Health Care clients
were admitted to the hospital less frequently than 92% of all other
agencies in the country.
As a result of this superb ranking, the MHC program has been
invited to participate in a national study conducted in part by the
National Association for Home Care. The study will strive to
identify what the best agencies in the country do to reduce
hospitalization rates. The study is not an open study; only agencies
that score in the top 8% nationally are invited to participate.
The Madelia Community Hospital Home Health Care Program conducted
8,844 home care visits during the fiscal year 2003 – 2004. Elsie
Pace, who recently retired, served as Home Health Care Program
director for numerous years, her new successor is Laura Mayer, RN.
Additional members of the Home Health Care team are Amy Ardolf,
Cathy Becker, Marlene Davis, Katy Eiselt, Beth Goodburn, Wanda
Grebenc, Janice Keech, Marnie Korteum, Crystal Mayberry and Lana
Moon. To inquire about Home Health Care services, interested persons
